An excellent contest report by Wayne Gallasch on the 1971 IFBB Mr Olympia / Universe competition. Albert Beckles would be judged the overall Mr Universe winner after initially placing 2nd in his class. In an act of extreme sportsmanship Ahmet Enunlu, who was judged the winner, mounted the 2nd position on the rostrum. The great sportsmanship of Enunlu in showing that he knew he was not the best physique should never be forgotten.
Arnold Schwarzenegger would win the Olympia title defeating an unnamed Arab physique. His main competitors were banned by the IFBB for competing in non sanctioned events.
Sergio Oliva, Franco Columbu and Roy Callender would guest pose despite their suspensions.

Wayne was invited to the extravaganza by Wag and Dianne Bennett. This was the origins of his filming of Mr Olympia. In total he has had the privilege of covering the Mr Olympia on 53 occasions!
The unnamed Arab was Ahmed Ayoub. Serge Nubret put Ahmed on stage for comparisons.
I have little information on Ahmed Ayoub and his competitive history was limited.
