I have gone to great lengths to secure copies of the Australian Bodybuilding Magazines from the Golden Era of the sport.  Both Rocco Oppedisano’s Muscle Australia and Paul Graham’s Muscle & Fitness Australia were great magazines with exceptional local and international content.  My collection of both magazines is vast but unfortunately still not yet complete.

After making contact with many of the Australian Bodybuilders that filled the pages of these magazines I am saddened that the large majority no longer have their own copies of these magazines.  Either lost, misplaced or given away, they and their family and friends no longer have the opportunity to look back on their glorious past, that is UNTIL NOW!  I will be periodically releasing high resolution, electronic copies of these precious gems for all to view, going to great lengths to make your reading experience as pleasurable and as close to having the magazines in your own hands as possible.

In addition to my Australian collection I will also present an international magazine which will be featured and replaced each and every month.

Enough said.  It’s now time to enjoy the Australian Bodybuilding magazines IN FULL at your own leisure.  Remember to check in every month for NEW RELEASES.

Monthly Featured Magazine

The first of our featured International Magazines is both very rare and historically significant.  What we present is the July 27th 1950 EDITION of HEALTH & STRENGTH.

Health & Strength was the oldest physical culture journal in the world.  A product of the United Kingdom, it was established and first published in 1898. This edition provides for a comprehensive review of the first official NABBA MR UNIVERSE CONTEST held in 1950 and won by STEVE REEVES.    This is the FIRST MAGAZINE COVERAGE OF THIS HISTORICAL EVENT.  The magazine has no fewer than half a dozen articles on the contest.  Further it provides a table of the measurements for each competitor and dozens of magnificent photos of the event and its participants.

WE HAVE MADE THIS FEATURE PUBLICATION DOWNLOADABLE SO YOU CAN HAVE A COPY FOR YOUR OWN RECORDS.

NOTE:  the Health & Strength League (which would  become NABBA as we know it) and the British Amateur Weightlifting Association did hold a Mr Universe competition in 1948 (won by John Grimek) that coincided with that year’s Olympic Games.  However, the 1950 edition (held on Saturday, June 24, 1950) was and is universally known and accepted as the first edition of this prestigious bodybuilding title.
