What’s New!

The library has been updated to include the 11th editions of Muscle Australia, Australasian Muscle & Fitness and Peak MuscleMaker.

Muscle Australia features an excellent editorial on Kjell Nilsson the man behind the mask of “Humungus” the chief baddie of the feature film “Mad Max II”.  There is also a feature article on Sergio Oliva’s visit “down under”.  Finally, Australian Bodybuilding Legend Peter McCarthy shows you how to build massive and shapely legs.

Australasian Muscle & Fitness provides an excellent contest report on Sammy Ioannidis victory at the 1981 IFBB Junior Mr Universe in Margate, South Africa.  Additionally there is a copy of the Inspection Report for the 1981 IFBB World Amateur Bodybuilding Championships included in this edition.  Must reading for historians of this once great sport!

Finally Peak MuscleMaker provides more from the adventures of Frank Richard.  Some great reading there.  Finally there is a comprehensive contest report on the 1970 NABBA Universe festivities.

Monthly Featured Magazine

This month’s featured international magazine is the premier edition of Muscular Development.

The cover features John Grimek the magazines editor.

The magazine was launch in January 1964 and has always been a favourite of mine as it provided coverage of athletes that were not under the IFBB umbrella. If not for this magazine a large portion of bodybuilding history would be lost to the audience of today.

John Grimek goes on to state in his first editorial that the AIM of the magazine is as follows:

“In launching this new bodybuilding publication MUSCULAR DEVELOPMENT, we hope to bring forth a new concept of bodybuilding features to the interested bodybuilder. It is the desire of all associated with this new publication to help fill the void that exists in this ever expanding field of weight training and bodybuilding… and this is OUR AIM.”

Enjoy!
